
What actually is blue light?
Blue light is a type of light on the visible color spectrum. It is produced naturally by the sun but also artificially through screens.
The sun also produces rays of orange light, yellow light, green light and so on. Each type of light produces energy and each has a different wavelength. The longer the wavelength the less energy is produced. Blue light has the shortest wavelengths of all visible light and therefore produces the most energy.
Being exposed to natural blue light naturally isn’t bad, the issues only start when we become overexposed to it through computer screens, television, mobile phones and so on, unfortunately these seem to be unavoidable these days!
So what is the problem?
Itchy, tired eyes? Swelling or redness? Headaches? These are all symptoms of ‘Digital Eye Strain’ which over 60% of Americans will experience in their lifetimes due to spending extended periods of time in front of screens.
Having trouble sleeping? Blue light regulates your body’s circadian rhythm, you are most awake in the daylight and most tired at nighttime. Artificial blue light disrupts this and confuses our body clock, giving you a worse quality of sleep.
Studies have shown that overexposure to blue light may lead to Macular Degeneration which is the leading cause of vision loss in old age.
I’m sure this isn’t the first time you’ve been warned about spending too long in front of screens. You’ve probably heard that you will fall asleep easier if you don’t go on your phone before bed. We know these things but realistically they can be difficult to avoid.

Final thoughts…
Sleep is one of the most important elements for good health. When I realized there was a product that would improve the quality of my sleep so dramatically for the price of a trip to the cinema it was a no-brainer. Investing in yourself is one of the most valuable investments you can make!
